About Me

Margot is a Sheffield born artist who is inspired by the wildlife, and landscapes to be found around the city and in the Peak District.

I have always been fascinated by the way light changes a scene and transforms something from being dull to being magical with colour emerging from the shadows, and dappled light casting sunbeams where nothing existed before.

Driving to work in the early morning in the east end of Sheffield, I was always distracted by the stunning skies overhead.

Those amazing cloud forms which came from beyond the horizon; from cold places, exotic places, oceans and wild landscapes and which were always so transient. I always found them an uplifting contrast to the world of the indoors.

Like many people in Sheffield I enjoy walking in the Peak District with our family dog and many of the paintings are inspired by those walks. I paint mainly in acrylic on canvas with some mixed media.
